ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ Law Listed as Best Law School Building in the U.S.
April 10, 2018 - ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law has been ranked No. 1 on PreLaw magazine's list of BEST Law School Buildings in the nation in its Spring 2018 issue. This is the second time that ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ Law has taken the top spot, with a 2014 listing as having the "Best Law School Facility" in the country in the same publication.
ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ Law took top honors (again) in the rankings of best law school buildings in a comprehensive report that listed the top 62 law school buildings in the country. PreLaw magazine conducted a review of all of the country's law schools (more than 200), looking at various sources such as staff visits, Princeton Review reports and publications, and objective data from those schools' libraries to examine square footage per student, library hours and seats per library. PreLaw researchers also looked at various amenities available to law students at each school, aesthetic factors and student feedback.
The repeat victory as No. 1 comes eight years after the law school relocated from the main University of ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ campus to the historic former U.S. Custom House/Courthouse/Post Office, which underwent a $42 million renovation and upgrade before the law school moved there in 2010. The historical austerity of the building, coupled with modern charms and new technology, proved to be a winning combination, as ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ Law beat out many historic and modern law school facilities alike.
"We're much more than a pretty face, and this ranking from PreLaw magazine confirms that," said Dean Peter Letsou. And that's important, he emphasizes, given how students have come to rely on many of our technological and facility upgrades and advances for their learning. "It's an inspiring place to go to law school," Letsou notes. "You can feel the power and majesty of the law here. You feel good about being here."
ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ Law is the only law school in this region to place in the top 20, and the only law school in the history of the rankings as a repeat No. 1 award winner.
