SPH Changemaker Launches New Curriculum to Drive Public Health Awareness in Uganda

PH-CARES Changemakers provides UofM SPH students with $750 seed grants to tackle pressing health challenges locally and globally. This initiative gives student innovators the funding they need to kick-start real-world public health solutions.
Nizeyimana came to study here at the University of ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ after growing up in a Ugandan Refugee Camp, where he saw firsthand how his community there could benefit from access to public health education.
Uganda currently hosts approximately 1.96 million refugees and asylum-seekers with the majority fleeing conflict in South Sudan, Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
His newly launched eight-month program directly tackles community displacement vulnerabilities by training youth in public health, nutrition and entrepreneurship training.
