Dr. JoAnna Boudreaux is an Assistant Professor of Teaching and Internship Coordinator in the Department of Sociology at the University of ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½. She earned her PhD in Communication Studies and her master’s degree in Sociology from the University of ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½.

Dr. Boudreaux is a transdisciplinary scholar whose research examines motherhood, maternal health, reproductive justice, immigration, and religious identity. Her work has been published in the Journal of Mother StudiesJournal of Autoethnography, and Listening: Journal of Communication Ethics, Religion, and Culture. She is the author of Islam and Motherhood: Discourses of Faith and Identity (Peter Lang, 2024) and the textbook Borders and Belonging: Sociological Theories on Race, Ethnicity, and the Making of America (Kendall Hunt, 2025). 

Dr. Boudreaux teaches a variety of courses including:  Race & Ethnicity, Gender & Society, Medical Sociology, and AI,Power & the Sociology oif Knowledge. She also coordinates internships for Sociology majors and minors.
