Ongoing Libraries Programs
The Dissertation Writers Retreat
The Dissertation Writers Retreat offers UofM graduate students in-person and online opportunities to prepare as you begin, are in the middle of, or are wrapping up your thesis or dissertation. This series, held each semester, is sponsored by the University Libraries, the Graduate School, and Writing and Communication Services at CASA.
Tigers Speak and Tigers Write
The Tigers Speak and Tigers Write programs reinforce and expand on important concepts for first-year students and others who want to improve their academic writing and speaking through in-person programs and online modules. Topics cover all stages of the academic writing and oral communication processes, such as brainstorming and planning, finding research, drafting, researching sources, citing and incorporating sources, and editing and revising. Held each semester, these programs are developed by writing, communication, and research experts from Writing and Communication Services and the University Libraries.
Exam Week Stressbusters
Exam Week Stressbusters are programs held at McWherter Library during exams each semester to help students destress, featuring a visit from West TN Therapy dogs.
University Libraries Colloquiums
University Libraries Colloquiums feature presentations by Libraries faculty and staff, showcasing their recent research and diverse interests.
Past Libraries Programs
NEDtalks
NEDtalks was a bi-annual program hosted by the Ned McWherter Library where UofM faculty, instructors, and students shared recent research in clear and engaging short-form presentations in the spirit of TED Talks. The fall event, NEDtalks, was dedicated to UofM faculty and instructors. The spring program, NEDxStudents, was dedicated to UofM students. In place of NEDtalks, the Libraries and Graduate School are working together to plan a new, upcoming program, the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. More details coming soon.
